Bloomers
Bloomers is a half hour comedy that follows self-proclaimed platonic soulmates, Teddy and Jo, as they’re smacked in the face with the reality of their 30s when Teddy realizes she wants to have a baby. Now, with their futures suddenly on a timeline that only a uterus can dictate, they must scramble for traditional stability in order to have the nontraditional family of their dreams.
Teddy is a lazy bisexual butch who treats her sweatshirts better than her suits and Jo is a blunt gay man who built himself a standing desk. They were born six days apart in a rural town in Western Massachusetts and they’ve been friends since they were six months old.
When Teddy and Jo travel home to meet their friend Cathryn’s new baby, something awakens in Teddy and she realizes she doesn’t just want to be a fun aunt - she also wants to be a fun mom. But this was never part of the plan! Jo was supposed to become a doctor, Teddy was supposed to open her own community theater and they would live in their own little commune with their partners and Jo would have the kids.
Problem is, Jo’s not a doctor, Teddy is stuck as an assistant stage manager, neither of them are in relationships and it’s too much! Pressed with this stressful new timeline, Teddy and Jo take the only logical first step to building their family - they adopt a puppy.
